Welcome to KIT School Pedagogy

Please find more information about teaching, research and cooperation on the following pages
School pedagogy as a scientific discipline deals with schools and their development, teaching and its teaching-learning processes as well as the professionalization of teachers and school management. In addition, we look at institutional and social contexts that shape school reality. School pedagogy at KIT focuses on school and lesson development as well as teacher professionalization from an (inter)national perspective. We not only research and teach, but also create and impart knowledge for society and schools in Baden-Württemberg.The study of school pedagogy connects all students who aim to become a school teacher at "Gymnasium" and is responsible in this context for the educational science accompanying studies in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. Teaching is shaped by the research profile of the (inter)national examination of education and quality at different school system levels. This means that teacher training students at KIT also learn research-based and are supported in developing a research-based habitus that is intended to help them continuously develop their own teaching. Therefore, the Chair of School Pedagogy cooperates closely with the Centre for Medial Learning (ZML) and the Centre for Teacher Education (ZLB) of the House of Competence (HoC; see "Cooperations"). On the following pages you will find more information about our vision and our team under the leadership of TT-Prof. Dr. Britta Klopsch.
